23rd Annual Cowboy Poetry Night
Celebrate the Western way of life at the 32nd Annual Cowboy Poetry Night, presented by the Tehama County Arts Council on Monday, April 14, 6- 8 pm at the Round-up Museum, 670 Antelope Blvd., Red Bluff, as a part of this year's Red Bluff Round-Up events. Featured cowboy poets are Bill Hooton of Red Bluff, Craig Claver of Redding and musician Dan Steadman of Cottonwood. All have extensive experience of performing at Cowboy Poetry events. Participants of all ages are invited to recite or sing original or traditional and classic poems or songs about cowboys or cowgirls and their work, life on the range, ranch life and livestock. The tradition of cowboy poetry originating with early cowboys sitting around the campfire after a hard day's work telling stories about their day's experiences, often as poetry and in songs. Cowboy poetry has it's own rhyming style and has become a form of popular folk art.
